The One Sixth Society blog covers Hot Toys news, sixth scale collecting and the people behind the hobby. Articles range from new figure announcements and company history to artist interviews, display advice and honest discussions about the practical side of collecting. We preserve older reporting as a dated archive and update evergreen guides when newer information materially changes the answer.
Our Hot Toys coverage goes beyond a list of releases. Learn about founder Howard Chan and the company’s origins, revisit Hot Toys’ earliest Famous Type figures, or explore the appeal and scarcity of rare Hot Toys collectibles. Older articles retain their original publication context.
Our practical guides cover storage, cleaning and display space, including questions such as whether collectors should keep figure boxes, how to clean figures and their display cases, and how to choose display cases for action figures. Interviews with artists—including the K.A. Kim sculptor interview—document the craft and creative decisions behind collectible portraits.
Use the article cards above to browse the newest stories. For product-by-product research, visit the permanent Hot Toys page. The Hot Toys Preorders page focuses on upcoming releases, while Hot Toys Reviews and Hot Toys Videos provide closer examination of selected collectibles.
Check whether a story reports a reveal, an estimated release window or a finished figure reaching collectors. Those are different stages. An announcement can explain the planned accessories, while an in-hand review can show how the finished sample looks and moves.
For an older article, use its date and linked sources to understand what was known then. A sold-out notice or release estimate from that period may no longer describe the market. Search the figure’s exact model number to avoid mixing a later reissue with the original release.
For a display project, begin with the dimensions and care guides, then look at the individual figures you plan to add. That order helps you work out shelf space before choosing another large base, vehicle or group of characters.
One Sixth Society is an independent collector publication. We aim to identify the source and date of product information, use original analysis where possible and correct material errors. Prices, availability and release estimates can change; consult the relevant manufacturer or retailer before making a purchase.
The K.A. Kim interview covers her work on collectible portraits. Our Hot Toys RoboCop 2 review shows the helmet-off Murphy head she sculpted, with close-up photos and a discussion of the likeness.
The most useful next article depends on the question. If a portrait caught your attention, our sculpted and rooted hair comparison explains what to look for. If the obstacle is space, start with usable shelf dimensions rather than another reveal photo.
When you are ready to compare an announced release, move to the Hot Toys preorder guides. Check the figure’s product code and included parts there, then read its linked review or watch its video when that coverage is available.
