It finally happened; Hot Toys is releasing a Poe Dameron figure. While we have just been served a tease, it is definitely coming. Poe is a figure that I have been wanting for ages. When he got announced, I had a thought.
What other Star Wars figures I would want to see from Hot Toys. I started writing a list and realized that there are actually quite a few. We decided it would be fun to share our Hot Toys Star Wars Wish List.
Prequel Jedi Masters
Obi-Wan’s master; Qui-Gon is an integral piece of the growth of Anakin Skywalker. With that in mind, it is rather surprising that we have not have a recent figure of him. Sideshow did a figure of him back in the day, but it does not hold up with Hot Toy’s offerings. With the recent announcement of Episode 3 Anakin I am hoping we’ll see Qui-Gon, as well as Obi-Wan from Episode 1, 2, or 3.
Another thing that was done by early Sideshow Collectibles was an assortment of other Jedi. We had Plo-Koon, Mace Windu, Kit Fisto, and more. The aliens hold up okay (I still have Plo-Koon, my favorite Jedi, on display), but an update certainly would not hurt. More human characters like Mace desperately need an update however.
Admiral Ackbar
We are getting a figure of Grand Moff Tarkin, how about his rebel equivalent? The Mon Calamari Admiral is a fan favorite, and I am sure many collectors would scoop him up. Even though he looks a bit silly, his design is still intricate enough that I think it could really translate into a cool high-end figure. For accessories, I am sure a starship console or something similar could be made to go alongside Ackbar, much like Tarkin’s chair.
Lando Calrissian
Another crucial character on our Star Wars Wish List is Lando Calrissian. I am shocked that we have not had a recent release of him! His costume is so cool, and his smirk is so iconic that it is a true bummer that Cloud City’s administrator has not been given much love. His old Sideshow figure is really not too bad, but Hot Toys could really knock out the sculpt as they tend to excel with expressive sculpts. He had a huge role in ESB, so I would not be shocked if he ends up seeing the light of day.
Force Awakens General Leia
From Princess to General, Leia Organa is perhaps one of the most iconic film characters of all time. Hot Toys has produced her in her white dress, while her Hoth look is up for preorder and her Endor outfit has been revealed. However, no figure of her as she appeared in The Force awakens has been made which is a huge shame. It would be nice to round out all of her styles with her most recent look. Hot Toys excels with headsculpts of older characters, and I am confident that they would have a slam dunk on their hands. Perhaps we will have a figure of her from Episode 8, only time will tell.
There you have it, a few of my personal picks. As I said, Star Wars is a rich series with a ton of characters. Many of these characters are worthy of figures, and this is just our Hot Toys Star Wars Wish List. What characters would you like to see?
