If you are a fan of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle figures, odds are you are buying all four brothers in quarter scale, and with the release of Michelangelo, the line is complete!
If you have been keeping up with our other Turtle Reviews then you will not have many surprises coming your way with this review. Without further ado, let’s get into the 1/4 Scale TMNT NECA Michelangelo Review.
The Fun Brother
As with the other three releases, the packaging is nothing spectacular but it gets the job done. It is just NECA’s typical quarter scale packaging, consisting of some iconography from the film as well as a rather large window into the box. Of course, we all know that the inside is where the goods are, and Michelangelo is certainly no exception to the rule.
The first thing you will notice when you pull the figure out of the box is the weight. All of the Turtles have a sturdy feeling, and Michelangelo is the same way. Now, Michelangelo also shares all of the same articulation as his brothers given that they almost share the exact same body.
There are some minor differences we spotted in our NECA Michelangelo Review, mainly in that two of the brothers have different arm sculptures from the other two, but other than that there is nothing different about the body sculpts. As such, they all stand roughly 18 inches tall and have fantastic presence on the shelf. Of course, the shell sculpt on the front is the same as the other turtles, albeit with a cleaner paintjob. The back shell is slightly different, as well as the leather belt that wraps around him.
Accessories
As a kid, I was always a fan of Mike’s nunchucks and they translated quite well. The weapons are adorned with a nice level of detail. They are attached by a string in the middle of the sticks. There is no difference between the pair of them, but I would not really expect there to be any.
Mike also comes with the piece of pizza that his brothers all have, allowing you to make half a pizza if you have all four figures. However, the coolest accessory he comes with in my opinion is the bag of pork rinds. This little plastic bag was done in fantastic detail, and additional accessories are always appreciated.
Michelangelo’s Head Sculpt
This is where Mike shines in my opinion. All of the other turtles had great headsculpts, but Michelangelo’s may be the best. It is such an expressive sculpt brought to life by fantastic paint. The orange in his mask contrasts beautifully against the dark green skin. The headsculpt is just next level, and really needs to be seen to be believed.
And there you have it. Not a ton to be said about the figure, but he is a slam dunk all around. All of the NECA TMNT figures have been really awesome! Luckily the line is not over since we have disguised Raphael on the way, potentially followed by Shredder, Spliter and more. Thank you for looking at our 1/4 Scale NECA Michelangelo Review and we hope you enjoyed it!
