Blitzway Rocky Statue Video Review

Blitzway’s quarter-scale Rocky statue puts him on a Philadelphia street with Butkus beside him. This video accompanies our written review of the K.A. Kim portrait, fabric outfits and detailed base.

Rocky and Butkus

Our reviewer praised the young Sylvester Stallone likeness, skin tones and stubble. Butkus also received attention for the sculpted fur and glossy finish around his snout.

Rocky’s red shirt and black jacket are made from fabric. Butkus wears a fabric Eagles jersey. Those clothes sit over fixed sculpted bodies; this is a statue rather than an articulated figure.

The close-ups show sculpted shoes beneath fabric trousers, with a working zipper and pockets in the pants. The jacket has its own pockets, and a spiked bracelet sits beside the driving gloves. Those smaller clothing details are shown before the camera moves up to Rocky’s face.

The Street Display

Grass in the pavement cracks, gum and worn concrete give the base small details beyond the two characters. A wall-ball, fight-promotion newspaper pieces and a plaque complete the scene.

The original verdict was strongly positive. The attraction is Rocky’s everyday appearance with his dog, rather than a boxing pose.

Which Rocky Is Being Celebrated?

The plaque identifies Rocky II, and the original written review dates this statue to 2016. The street clothes and Butkus make it a different choice from a boxing-ring Rocky: the jacket, gloves, hat and chain are as important to the scene as the likeness. Look down at the pavement too. The review describes gum, grass, a ball and newspapers as part of the Philadelphia street setting. Butkus has his own details, including a jersey and glossy nose. This is a fixed scene built around character and place, rather than an articulated figure intended for changing fight poses.

Setting Up the Street Display

The unboxing explains why a fixed-pose statue can still take time to assemble. This sample’s magnetic head had come loose in the packaging, and the necklace needed untangling. The reviewer works the shirt collar around the neck before seating the head. The brown felt pads shown under the base were his own additions, not pieces supplied by Blitzway.

The small Rocky II plaque is separate, so it can sit by the base or elsewhere in the display. The two printed fight sheets are also shown loose before the finished scene. Close-ups of Butkus reveal the spiked collar and the name and number 51 on the back of his jersey. The neckline is fixed in place rather than designed for undressing the dog.
