A Closer Look at RoboRider

The Prince of Sadness form gives Kotaro Minami a heavier, more mechanical appearance. Circuit patterns, yellow armor and the R2 emblem distinguish RoboRider from the green Black RX and blue BioRider.

The Vortech Shooter is the difference that matters most when posing the three together. Black RX and BioRider both have swords; RoboRider brings a firearm and a more deliberate stance to the lineup.

RoboRider’s mechanical appearance does not mean a separate robot has joined Kotaro. It is a transformation awakened by his grief. Toei describes a heavily protected form that can withstand heat and absorb flames as energy. That is the reason fire belongs among this figure’s effects rather than indicating damage to the suit.

The laser weapon and reinforced body also change the character’s fighting style. RoboRider can keep advancing through attacks and strike at close range, as well as fire from a distance. The broad armor fits that idea of stubborn, direct force. It gives the form a different personality from the evasive, fluid BioRider.

On the figure, the yellow panels and silver face make the darker body easier to read. The circuit-like markings reward a closer view without requiring every light to be switched on. They are especially relevant here because the costume is meant to suggest machinery, while still retaining enough Rider features to belong beside RX.

A three-form collection tells one character’s story through three different appearances. RoboRider is the most mechanical of that group, so it can also appeal to someone who usually collects armored or robotic characters. The reason to choose it is that particular design and the moment it represents, rather than an assumption that a more armored form replaces the regular RX figure.

The Sunriser changes with RoboRider

RoboRider's belt is another part of the transformation, rather than the regular RX belt hidden by a larger body. Toei describes four interlocking gears generating the form's energy after Kotaro's grief changes the Kingstone's response. The mechanical appearance therefore continues through the center of the suit, where it is easy to overlook when concentrating on the yellow chest armor.

His gun's named finishing attack is Hard Shot. The contrast with RX's Revolcane is useful when choosing a scene reference: RoboRider can confront an opponent with a deliberate aimed shot rather than a sweeping blade. In the show, his corresponding motorcycle is the heavily armed Roboizer. Those are story connections for identifying the form; they do not add a vehicle to this figure's box.

For close-up photographs, include the belt as well as the head and chest. Those three areas show how thoroughly the design changes while Kotaro remains the same person. A tight crop of the gun can lose that distinction and make the photograph more about a weapon than this particular Rider.

Hot Toys RoboRider is expected at US retailers in September–December 2026.

Buying from Hot Toys or Secret Base in Hong Kong usually means getting the figure around 6–8 weeks before US retailers. Overseas shipping accounts for that gap, but the timing varies by shipment.
