Tony’s suitcase armor from Iron Man 2 comes with the suitcase itself, Whiplash’s arc reactor and a stretch of racetrack for the base. The Mark V mixes diecast parts with slim red and silver armor plates that open across the chest, back and calves.

For the aftermath of Monaco, swap in the damaged left arm, shoulders and chest with Tony’s bruised portrait. The helmeted head lights up for the intact suit.
Taking the chest cover off exposes the mechanism beneath the silver ribs. That gives you a third look between the intact suit and the armor Whiplash tears into on the track.
If you’re looking at the Mark V Suit Up figure too, the distinction is where Tony is in the Monaco fight. This diecast release gives you the complete armor and the loose suitcase. The Suit Up release starts with Tony in racing overalls and lets you add sections of the suit.
Iron Man 2 producer Victoria Alonso described the Monaco suit as a difficult balancing act for the filmmakers. The audience had to believe a man could carry it in a suitcase and that it could still take a hit from Whiplash. The moving plates couldn’t simply materialize around Tony. The finished red-and-silver Mark V is where you see the result of that work: narrow strips across the torso and the legs fold over one another, with much less bulk than Tony’s later battlefield armor.
There are eight interchangeable hands, including two extra damaged left hands. That distinction matters with the damaged arm. The additional fist and relaxed hand carry its scars through to the knuckles, so you can keep the finish consistent all the way down the left side. With the intact arms, the set offers both articulated fingers and sculpted repulsor-firing hands. Whiplash’s loose reactor is small enough to disappear behind the figure; put it at the front of the racetrack base if you want the setting to read as Monaco from across the room.
If you like seeing the machinery beneath Tony’s armor, the Mark VII Exo-Chrome review shows what changes when Hot Toys makes the outer panels transparent.
If the silver panels drew you to the Mark V, compare them with the red-and-gold plating on the Mark XLIII 2.0.
