One Sixth Society is an independent publication built for collectors who care about the details: sculpt accuracy, tailoring, articulation, accessories, display options, edition differences and whether a figure deserves space in the collection.
Our focus is sixth-scale collecting, with in-depth coverage of Hot Toys, upcoming releases, collector guides and display advice. We turn scattered product announcements and specifications into useful information that helps collectors understand what they are buying and how a release fits into a larger collection.
Built for the collecting community
Jon Deak founded One Sixth Society in 2016. The independent, Los Angeles-based publication covers Hot Toys and other collectible figures. One Sixth Society does not sell figures or take preorder deposits.
We know that a manufacturer photo rarely answers every question. Collectors want to know whether a portrait captures the character, how much shelf space a pose needs, which accessories are exclusive to a special edition and what a new release changes from an earlier version. Those are the questions our coverage is built to answer.
The Collectors Behind the Articles
Jon Deak, Founder
Jon began collecting Hot Toys in 2009. He founded One Sixth Society to bring collectors together and share the work behind the figures. His coverage includes our interview with sculptor K.A. Kim at San Diego Comic-Con 2019 and the 2017 Rainman Artwork interview, prepared with a translator so Rainman could answer in Korean.
Hunter McGarry, Contributor
Hunter has collected toys since childhood, starting with trips to the International G.I. Joe Convention with his father. His One Sixth Society articles cover figures, custom artists and collecting. His 2017 interview with Molecule8 founder Vijay Chadha records the company’s plans in Chadha’s own words; the article separates those plans from later developments.
Articles credited to One Sixth Society use the publication’s shared editorial byline. An interview records the guest’s answers, a review describes the collectible examined, and a preorder guide covers an announced product. These are different kinds of evidence: a preorder guide does not claim that we have handled the finished figure.

Our editorial standards
Accuracy before speed
Product names, model numbers, measurements, edition differences and release information are checked against official manufacturer materials and reputable retailer listings. Measurements are presented in inches for consistency. When a date, specification or price is an estimate, we say so. Product details can change before release, and we update important information when reliable new details become available.
Collector-first analysis
A long accessory list is not automatically a great release. Our goal is to explain how the complete package works for a collector: how it looks on display, what each version includes and where it falls short. We separate confirmed facts from our analysis and avoid claiming hands-on experience when an article is based on official preorder information.
Useful, original coverage
We do not want to repeat a product listing and call it a guide. Our articles add context, comparisons, pose and display considerations, edition advice and answers to the questions collectors are likely to ask before spending their money.
Corrections and updates
If a manufacturer changes a release window, specification or included accessory, we may update the article to reflect the newest confirmed information. If you spot an error, please contact One Sixth Society. Clear corrections make the site more useful for every collector.
