The Mask’s best extras—and two weak points

Our original written review singled out the tailored yellow outfit, two portraits and transformed/untransformed dog heads as the package’s attractions. The separate mask is a display prop; it does not attach to the figure. That distinction is useful if you are checking whether a loose example contains all the expected parts.

Two criticisms are worth carrying into a viewing: the stand felt inexpensive, and the dog’s head magnets were weak on the reviewed set. For a secondhand purchase, ask to see both dog heads fitted rather than relying on a single assembled photograph. Also distinguish this 2.0 release from Asmus’s earlier Mask figure. The original review’s favorable value judgment was made at its 2017 price, not at an unverified current resale price.

Asmus’s second take on Jim Carrey’s Mask

When comparing the portraits, look at the mouth and eye expression as well as the green paint. Under the jacket, the suspenders add another costume layer; the hat and sculpted boots finish the outfit. The figure’s main appeal is the likeness and tailoring, so a pose that leaves the face and jacket front visible will show more of what the reviewer liked than a crowded arrangement of every accessory.
