I had been waiting for an MCU Spider-Man figure since the Captain America: Civil War trailer. Hot Toys announced the homemade suit first, then revealed two Homecoming versions wearing the suit Tony Stark gave Peter. Here is what the June 2017 announcement included.
Obviously this is not the first time that Hot Toys has created a figure of Spider-Man. We have had several figures portraying both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, and several iterations of the Spider-Man suit. Many have praised this new design for having some comic influences while still fitting into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It certainly appears that the cool design elements of the new suit have translated to one sixth scale!
What does Spider-Man come with?
Both versions include the red-and-blue Stark suit, a masked head with interchangeable eye pieces and removable web wings. The eye pieces change Spider-Man’s expression without replacing the whole masked head.
Both versions also include an unmasked Tom Holland portrait, a separate mask for the figure to hold, interchangeable hands and a stand. Peter’s school accessories are a backpack, headphones and a science textbook. Web effects and two Spider Signal stickers complete the selection.
What the Deluxe Version Adds
The Deluxe Version includes everything in the Standard Version, plus a yellow jacket, a blue hoodie and Vulture’s helmet. The helmet is a display accessory and cannot be worn by the figure.
With the film about a month away from release it’s nice to see The Hot Toys Spider Man Homecoming Figure finally revealed. The figure itself was still several months from release. Fans of Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War had plenty to look forward to, while others could wait to see Homecoming before deciding.
School Clothes or the Masked Spider-Man Look?
The school accessories and unmasked portrait make Peter Parker as important to this release as Spider-Man. A backpack and textbook suggest an ordinary school day, while the interchangeable eyes and web pieces belong to the costumed side of the character. Choosing between those two looks first makes the accessory list easier to understand.
The Deluxe clothing expands that Peter Parker side of the display. It does not supply a different underlying red-and-blue suit. Vulture’s helmet is another separate extra, useful as a prop rather than a wearable alternative to Spider-Man’s head. A listing that shows Peter holding a mask is likewise showing the loose mask accessory, not a masked head removed from the body.
This is the Homecoming Stark-suit announcement from 2017. Later Tom Holland figures can have different suits, portraits and eye systems, so use the film and exact release to identify a secondhand example before comparing its contents with this article.
