The Review
The Death Trooper’s glossy black armor and tall build made it an immediately distinctive addition to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Hot Toys’ Specialist Deluxe figure recreated that look at sixth scale, with a miniature Stormtrooper doll and diorama base adding a direct connection to the film.
Our original review found much to like in the finish and accessories. Its main reservation was the undersuit, which made some of the more ambitious poses difficult.
Why the Specialist Deluxe version?
The original reviewer chose the Deluxe edition largely for its base and miniature Stormtrooper doll. The article also distinguished its additional blaster rifle from the other Specialist option and noted the chest equipment and shoulder accessories that separated Specialist figures from the more simply equipped standard trooper.
Those distinctions matter when looking at an older listing. The photograph shows the box labeled “Specialist (Deluxe Version),” the rocky display base and a selection of hands. Check that a used Deluxe set still includes its exclusive accessories.
A small accessory with a strong film connection
The Stormtrooper doll was a highlight of the original review. Its small white body contrasts with the Death Trooper’s dark armor, and the reviewer appreciated how it helped recreate a recognizable moment from the film.
The close-ups show the doll both in the figure’s hand and beside the base. It is a small component, so confirm that it is included and inspect its condition if the accessory is a major reason for choosing this edition.
Armor finish and height
At close to thirteen inches tall in the reviewer’s description, the Death Trooper stood out beside other sixth-scale figures. The photograph with an Ash Williams figure shows how tall he is beside another sixth-scale figure.
The glossy armor caught the light effectively, while the specialist equipment gave the chest and shoulders additional detail. The review also praised the accessory finish, helmet lighting and selection of hands. These touches helped the figure feel distinctive even among a collection of Imperial troops.
The undersuit limits some poses
The rubber-like undersuit was the principal weakness identified during the original review. In particular, the reviewer found it difficult to reproduce promotional poses with one boot raised on the diorama. The leg’s movement was restricted, and the available standing area could feel cramped.
A straightforward standing pose still looks excellent. The main frustration was getting the legs into the poses shown in the promotional photographs.
Inspect an older example carefully
For a used figure, inspect the undersuit, armor and straps, and check that the helmet lights work. Confirm the Deluxe base and Stormtrooper doll are included.

Final Verdict
