NECA’s quarter-scale Michelangelo captures the grin and orange bandana of the 1990 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film. This is Jon Deak’s video review, accompanied by our written assessment and original photographs.
The Face and Nunchucks
The smile was the highlight of our written review. The lively eyes, textured skin and bright mask make Michelangelo look different from his more serious brothers even before the weapons are added.
His nunchucks have textured handles joined by cord. The pizza slice and miniature pork-rind bag give him a couple of quieter display options, too. They are small extras, but they suit this version of Mikey.
Quarter-Scale Size
NECA lists Michelangelo at 16.5 inches tall with 30 points of articulation.
He shares much of the other Turtles’ body design, with differences in the belt, shell and paint. The original review praised the clean paint on his front shell and the way the four figures look together.
Michelangelo’s Place in the Team
The expression makes a bigger difference than another change of weapon would. Michelangelo’s open grin gives the group a lighter mood beside the more serious portraits on Leonardo and Donatello. If you collect just one Turtle, that personality is worth weighing against the shared body construction. If you collect all four, compare their faces together as well as their accessories.
