NECA’s quarter-scale Donatello brings the 1990 movie costume to a much larger display than a typical sixth-scale figure. This video accompanies our original review of the sculpt, weathering and accessories.
Movie-Costume Detail
The review praised the skin markings, dirty fingernails and weathering across the body. Fabric bandana tails and a stitched staff harness add a different texture beside the sculpted shell.
Donatello’s serious expression suits him well. The bo staff also received praise for its wood-like sculpting and paint, rather than looking like a plain plastic rod.
Size and Accessories
NECA lists the figure at 16.5 inches tall with 30 points of articulation. The staff is nearly a foot long in our original review, so a sideways grip needs more width than the standing figure alone.
Pizza, interchangeable hands and a damaged ooze canister complete the package. Our reviewer found the joints tight; do not force one that resists movement.
The Staff and Harness Up Close
The staff’s wood-like sculpt and paint are matched by a stitched, weathered harness, so the weapon still contributes to the figure when stored on his back. The review also calls out dirt around the fingernails and marks on the skin. Those details are part of the intended movie-suit finish, rather than a perfectly clean cartoon interpretation. Compare the ooze canister separately: its lettering and torn-metal sculpt are deliberate details, not damage to the accessory. Donatello began this movie-Turtle lineup, which explains why the original review spends time assessing him as the starting point for a matching team.
