Poe’s flight gear tells you which movie this figure belongs to before you even look at the box. Hot Toys put Oscar Isaac in the orange Resistance suit from The Force Awakens, with a white flak vest, life-support gear and a weathered black-and-red helmet.

Poe Dameron: What Comes in the Box

Planning Your Display

There’s a small detail worth knowing before you set him up: the loose gloves are props for Poe to carry. If you want him wearing gloves, use the separate gloved hands. Helmet in one hand and blaster in the other leaves the face visible; putting the helmet on gives you the cockpit look without an X-wing.

Poe’s Black Leader flight gear

Poe flies Black One, his T-70 X-wing, in the attack on Starkiller Base. Look below the vest in the product photos. The gray strap at his knee carries ammunition; the belt higher on his thigh carries the blaster holster.

For another Force Awakens pilot in sixth scale, our Han Solo review looks at the older Harrison Ford portrait. Poe’s orange flight suit and helmet make for quite a different silhouette beside him.

What the Production Figure Gets Right About Poe’s Helmet

The helmet on the final figure isn’t hollowed out to fit over Poe’s regular sculpted hair. In our hands-on review, Jon found a second, flatter hairpiece underneath it. Magnets help the helmet sit low enough on his head, and the yellow visor slides up if you want to see his eyes. With the helmet off, the join on the ordinary hairpiece follows the part in his hair. That’s where you can reach the eye controls.

The production figure also reveals something the promotional stance doesn’t: the shoulders sit a little low. Jon found that bending an elbow to carry the helmet looked better than leaving both arms straight. He also found the tab that holds the chest box awkward to reach behind the vest. Pose the arms, then fit the box and hoses. The sculpt and weathered suit earned Poe an 8.8 out of 10 in our review, but those two compromises are worth knowing before ordering him.

If you want Poe holding the blaster, use a bare hand. The two gloved hands are relaxed; the extra gloves are props, not gloves you can slide over the sculpted trigger fingers. His pistol also fits the holster on the gray thigh belt.

For a look at this exact release in hand, our Hot Toys Poe Dameron review compares the Oscar Isaac head sculpt with the helmeted look.
