Hot Toys Sentinel Jumbo Sofvi (SMS004J) Preorder

Hot Toys brings the Sentinel from Avengers: Doomsday to its Sofvi Masterpiece Series as a 23.6-inch vinyl figure. It includes regular and battle-damaged face and chest plates, green or orange light-up eyes, and a Doctor Doom miniature with a rocky base.

What Comes in the Box

The Sentinel SMS004J includes both the regular and battle-damaged face and chest plates. You do not need a separate Deluxe version to get the damaged look. This release is part of the Sofvi Masterpiece Series, with a vinyl body rather than the construction of a conventional Hot Toys sixth-scale figure.

Hot Toys lists batteries as included and specifies button cells for the head lighting. The exact cell type and replacement procedure have not been supplied in the announcement. The energy-blast hands are interchangeable hand sculpts; separate blast-effect pieces and illuminated palms are not listed.

Planning Your Display

At approximately 23.6 inches tall, this Sentinel needs considerably more vertical room than a typical sixth-scale human figure. Measure the actual opening in your display case, including the space needed to lift the figure into place. Hot Toys has not published the full width, depth or weight, so height alone cannot establish whether your shelf will accommodate it.

The Clean Sentinel

The regular face and chest plates give you the intact robot, with its metallic purple armor and mechanical face visible. A standing pose with the fists fitted is the simplest starting point if you want the height and proportions to do the work. Even with the arms lowered, leave room around the shoulders and hands rather than planning around the distance between its feet.

After the Fight

The battle-damaged panels expose more of the machinery in the face and chest. Open hands or a raised energy-blast hand suit that version, but an extended arm will increase the display footprint. The listed articulation points confirm which areas move; they do not establish how far each joint bends or how securely a particular pose will stand.

Doom Beside the Sentinel

The miniature gives you a different way to show the size of the robot. Place Doom on the included rocky base beside it, or use the official hand-held arrangement as a posing reference. This is the included miniature, not a second full-size Hot Toys Doctor Doom. Allow space for the small base if you display the two separately.

An unmodified DETOLF shelf opening is not a fit you should assume for a figure this tall. If you have adjusted shelves or a larger cabinet, check its usable internal clearance and load rating before ordering. A suitably sized Moducase or another taller enclosure may offer more room, but its specific configuration still needs to be measured against the finished display.

A Closer Look at the Sentinel

The Face Plates Change More Than the Damage

The regular face plate keeps the recognizable Sentinel expression, while the damaged option opens up the face to show the machinery beneath. Removing the face plate entirely gives you another look at that internal sculpting. The chest plates follow the same clean-versus-damaged idea, so the damage is represented by actual interchangeable parts rather than simply a different coat of paint.

The purple and gray finish also separates the large armor panels from the darker mechanical areas. In the official prototype photos, the damaged chest makes the internal detail easier to see. Those photos show the proposed finish; final production paint and details can change before release.

Green and Orange Eyes

The eyes can switch between green and orange, letting you change the expression without replacing the entire head. Both colors belong to this one figure. The manufacturer describes the lighting as battery-powered, so this is different from the USB-powered Sentinel-head base supplied with the Beast Deluxe MMS921 figure.

If you plan to use the lights often, keep access to the head in mind when arranging the display. The announcement does not identify a USB connection, remote control or automatic shutoff for this Sentinel. Do not buy extra power accessories on the assumption that the head uses the same setup as another Hot Toys release.

The Hands and the Miniature

The six hands cover three different displays: fists for a standing robot, open hands for the miniature or a reaching pose, and the energy-blast gesture for an attack. The official photographs show the small Doctor Doom alongside the Sentinel and held in its hand. The miniature's arms are extended, and Hot Toys has not listed interchangeable hands or articulation for that separate accessory.

For a larger Avengers: Doomsday arrangement, the Doctor Doom Ultimate Special Edition is a separate sixth-scale release. Its accessories do not become part of the Sentinel box. Check the individual inventories if you are putting together a scene with several figures.

A Different Kind of X-Men Display

This is a complete articulated Sentinel, rather than a broken head or hand used as another figure's base. That gives an X-Men collection an opposing character with a very different silhouette. It could make an interesting backdrop to Cyclops from Avengers: Doomsday, but the Jumbo Sofvi name does not mean the robot has been manufactured to the same stated scale as the sixth-scale team.

If your collection is already running out of room, decide where this guy will go before adding another large box to the pile. A wide attacking pose and a simple standing pose have very different space requirements.
