The chrome arm grabs me first. Then I look at the head sculpt, and there’s Bucky. Hot Toys has Sebastian Stan’s likeness here, right down to that tired stare. Put him beside Stealth Suit Cap and I can already see the fight from The Winter Soldier on my shelf.
I would leave the mask off most of the time. Why cover a face this good? I’m also glad Hot Toys used genuine leather for the top and tactical vest. If you’ve watched an older faux-leather outfit peel in your display case, you know why I got excited when I saw that detail.
That Head Sculpt Looks Like Bucky From Every Angle
Some head sculpts only look convincing from one angle. This one looks spot on from every angle. The brow, tired eyes and set mouth give Bucky that cold stare. Get closer and the stubble and skin detail are there too. The paint app brings them out without making his face look overdone.

The rooted hair frames his face and falls over the collar. It looks a bit too neat for a guy who has just fought Cap. I’d mess it up a little for my shelf. The moving eyes give you another way to change his expression: a slight glance toward Cap could do more than a big action pose.
I still love the masked look. It’s Bucky at his most intimidating. The mask sits against the painted head sculpt, though, so I wouldn’t leave it on for months without checking underneath. It could leave an imprint in the paint app, or scratch the face as it comes off. I’d display him unmasked most days and bring out the mask and goggles when I want that colder Winter Soldier look.
Hot Toys Finally Gave Bucky Real Leather
Bucky’s top and tactical vest are genuine leather. I don’t get to say that about many Hot Toys outfits. Older faux-leather pieces have peeled and flaked for plenty of collectors, so this choice makes me happy before I even get to the weathering.

Look at the grain, stitching and brown wear along the edges. The black outfit looks used, which is exactly how I want Bucky to look. The straps, pouches and scuffed knee pads all belong there. I do think the vest makes his chest look a little bulky straight on; turn him slightly and the straps break up that shape.
I can’t tell you how this leather will age. I’d still keep him out of harsh sunlight and avoid clamping the vest for months. But after Hot Toys’ history with peeling faux leather, I’m glad the main pieces here are real leather.
The Chrome Arm Is Impossible to Ignore
That red star jumps out against all the black. The arm has a chrome finish rather than solid metal, and the darker paint in the grooves lets me see the separate panels. From a few steps back on your display shelf, it has exactly the shine I want from Bucky’s arm.

Hot Toys includes an articulated arm and two fixed arms with different bends. I’d start with the straighter one beside Cap so the star stays in view. If I set up the shield fight later, I can swap in the bent arm. That’s a useful choice for a figure I’ll want to change around on the shelf.
I’d start that Marvel shelf with Bucky and Stealth Suit Cap. If you’re working out who gets the next spot, I’ve got more figures in my Hot Toys Reviews. For a different Cap look, my Steve Rogers Avengers: Doomsday preorder covers the newer release.
The Special Edition Shield Makes Me Want to Set Up the Fight
Bucky comes with rifles, pistols, knives, spare hands, the mask and goggles, and a Hydra display base. The worn paint app on the weapons fits the scuffed outfit. I like the rifle hanging at his side; it gives him some attitude and leaves the head sculpt and chrome arm in view.

The knives and holsters fill out his back and waist. I wouldn’t put every weapon in his hands at once. The gear looks better to me when Bucky still has room to stand naturally on your shelf.
Then there’s Cap’s weathered shield. It’s a Special Edition extra, and it’s the reason I’d choose that edition. Put Bucky across from Stealth Suit Cap with the shield between them and I’ve got the scene I wanted. The scratched paint app fits Bucky’s beat-up gear. Check the edition before you order if that scene matters to you; the standard version doesn’t include the shield.

The dark Hydra base suits him. Its magnetic hold keeps a support arm out of sight when he’s standing. There’s a waist clamp too, though I’d keep an eye on any spot where hard plastic rests against the leather vest.
Bucky Can Steal the Show in a Museum Pose
I’d start with a museum pose: feet a little apart, rifle down by his leg, chrome arm where you can see it. Turn his head toward Cap. Those small changes give him more character than standing him straight out of the box, and you can see why the likeness works without hiding half his face.

I could spend an afternoon setting up the shield fight with the mask and extra arms. For my everyday display case, I’d keep him unmasked beside Cap. That face deserves to be seen.
This Artisan Bucky Deserves to Stand Next to Cap
The head sculpt is the big win for me. Hot Toys got Bucky’s likeness and paint app right, and the chrome arm looks great beside the leather outfit. I wish the rooted hair looked rougher, and the vest can look bulky head-on. Neither would stop me from giving him a front spot beside Cap.
I’d be careful with the mask against that painted face and check for marks if I use it. For me, the unmasked head sculpt, real leather and Special Edition shield win out. This is the Winter Soldier I’d put beside Stealth Suit Cap. I give the Artisan Special Edition a 9.3 out of 10.
A spot-on Bucky likeness, real leather and chrome arm make this Artisan release a standout beside Cap; use care with the mask against the paint app.
