Planning Your Display

Mando with Grogu

Grogu riding behind Mando’s left shoulder makes a compact display with the blaster held low. The long rifles and gladius suit a wider fighting stance. A turned helmet lets you show the reflective Beskar without losing sight of the small passenger.

Deluxe Hover Pram Display

With Deluxe, the seated Grogu and hover pram can go beside Mando instead. Leave room for the pram next to the snow-themed stand; its width is not included in the figure’s 12.2-inch height.

A Closer Look at The Mandalorian and Grogu

This movie outfit keeps the familiar mix of polished Beskar and worn brown clothing, but the weapons give Mando several looks beyond the usual pistol pose. The gladius is a particularly different choice alongside the two long rifles.

The unhelmeted Pedro Pascal portrait also makes sense with the standing Grogu from Deluxe. If Grogu is the main character you collect, the separate life-size Grogu LMS016 offers a much larger version with his own movie accessories.

The relationship has moved beyond a bounty hunter protecting a child he barely knows. Grogu chose to return to Din after training with Luke, and the film gives him more responsibility as Din's apprentice. For collectors, that makes the pair the subject of the release. Grogu is not simply a small bonus placed next to the main figure.

The polished Beskar changes how this Mandalorian looks under room lighting. A reflective surface picks up the colors around it, so the armor can appear warmer or cooler without the paint itself changing. Compare clear photographs of the helmet and chest when deciding how this release differs from a more muted armored figure you already own.

The face beneath the helmet offers another way to read the pair. The armored portrait emphasizes the Mandalorian identity; the unmasked portrait makes Din's connection with Grogu more personal. Neither needs a complicated action scene to work. Decide which part of their relationship you want to see every day, then choose the supplied portraits and Grogu options around that.

Din's new rifle has an older Star Wars connection

The ornate Amban rifle in The Mandalorian and Grogu has a production connection to Boba Fett's first animated appearance. Lucasfilm identifies it as a nod to the weapon in The Story of the Faithful Wookiee, the animated short from the Star Wars Holiday Special. That gives an apparently new movie accessory a link to a much older corner of Star Wars design.

It also helps explain why this rifle should not be treated as an unchanged replacement for every earlier Mandalorian weapon. The film has its own ornamented version. Compare the actual shape and decoration when looking at another Din release, rather than deciding from the forked muzzle alone that the accessories are identical.

Din's armor has more than one performer behind it too. The film's production notes identify Pedro Pascal, Brendan Wayne and Lateef Crowder as sharing the role in costume. Pascal's portrait represents the face associated with Din, while the armored character's movement also comes from the people performing the physical scenes. That is a useful distinction for a collectible that can be displayed either helmeted or unhelmeted.

A collector interested in the stunt side of the character may prefer an armored action photograph. Someone drawn to the father-and-son relationship may prefer the face visible beside Grogu. Those choices do not require calling one appearance more authentic than the other. Both are part of the way the screen character is made. The practical question is which supplied head and weapon combination gives you the moment you want, without loading every accessory onto the figure simply because it is in the box.
