A Closer Look at Professor X

This Charles wears an X-Men uniform, from the ribbed navy shirt to the tactical jacket and X-logo belt buckle. Patrick Stewart’s portrait and James Marsden’s Cyclops bring two familiar faces from the X-Men films into the Doomsday collection.

The Xavier’s School sign and wooden-floor card offer a setting for Charles back at the school. That is a useful option for collectors who want the professor seated among his students without a battlefield base beneath him.

Charles gives an X-Men collection its teacher as well as its team. Marvel’s original stories introduced him training young mutants at his school, and that role remains central to the character. He belongs in the conversation with his students, not just in a lineup of opponents. It can still represent the professor in a collection celebrating several eras, but the other figures do not have to be presented as a matching movie scene. Choose the original students if the school’s history is your focus, or the corresponding film portrayals if you want the actors together. That choice makes it easier to decide who belongs beside Charles as the collection grows.
