Collectors began asking about Storm Collectibles’ customer service after problems with its Mike Tyson figure. By 2017, the company had made sixth-scale Tony Jaa, Uncle Tung from Rigor Mortis and Dennis Rodman figures. Tyson’s seamless limbs became the focus of the complaints discussed here.
Some collectors reported that the rubber arms and legs on their Mike Tyson figures cracked soon after arrival. Those complaints prompted the explanation and replacement program described below.
What Happened and What Collectors Could Do
We spoke to Anthony Chi Wah Tsang, also known as Budget Stark, about the cracking. He attributed it to the rubber’s response to differences in climate between the production environment and collectors’ homes. This was his explanation of the issue at the time.
Collectors were also frustrated by the lack of a prompt response. Anthony explained that Storm Collectibles acted as both manufacturer and distributor and was not prepared to handle customer service at that scale. That did not excuse the delays, but it helped explain them. He said the company had begun working with distributors for future releases.
Storm Collectible’s production team took on the challenge and has gone a long way into developing a seamless figure for our Mike Tyson series to create the best outlook. Due to difficulties of dry weather that had caused issue on some of our products, we have since enhanced the material used for our upcoming 1:6 scale action figure. We strive to exercise the utmost diligence into providing our customers with the best quality of products and services. Storm Collectibles Wants to Help
In response, Storm Collectibles offered free replacement arms and legs for affected Mike Tyson figures. This was the replacement program reported in 2017, not a guarantee of current availability.
At the time of the original report, collectors had begun receiving replacement parts from their retailers or directly from Storm Collectibles.
